ABOUT

In 2007, Victoria had the vision to open a school for children  whose families were too poor to afford to send them to attend classes regularly.

Later that same year,  Victoria enrolled the first group of students in the Vision International School. The class consisted of under 20 children, and she employed relatives with teaching experience to hold the lessons. Believing in her will to dedicate herself to the school, the priest from her church made a thatched-roof wooden structure available to her use. Without electricity or a stable foundation, the school often had to cancel lessons during the rainy season.

With help from volunteers and the community, the Vision School grew. When the Victoria Project took shape in August 2010, the facility had grown out of the thatched-roof structure and into two cement-block rooms with a sturdy roof and narrow windows. About 120 children attended the school.

With the money raised in late 2010, one classroom block was built, the school was painted, and more children were enrolled. The classroom was finished in March 2011, the year the school got electricity and washroom facilities.  To accommodate the growing student body, another structure was erected in late 2012. By September 2012, over 250 children enrolled at the Vision School.

As new space is being created for new classrooms, more and more students are enrol every year. As the the school continues to grow and Victoria's initial vision unfolds, we seek to strengthen our efforts to accommodate every single one.
